Sample Projects

These are some of the experimental projects on which I worked in the past. Most are test or showcase applications, never really fully functional since most were never completed. Sorry some of them were only written in French and never translated. Some more recent personal projects are available from my download page. I specified for which systems the applications were developed at first but most can run on all current Windows systems.

Applications and drivers for the ADD-X PCTV2 frame grabber

[Windows 95/98 only]

The ZIP file contains:

AVS 2.11. A software that controls the integrated TV tuner.
A Video for Windows capture driver. It will enable you to use your PCTV2 with any pieces of software compatible with Video for Windows. These drivers have been tested with many Internet Videoconferencing programs (e.g. Cornell University CU-SeeMe, White Pine Enhanced CU-SeeMe and Microsoft NetMeeting 2.0 and Microsoft VidCap.)
An audio driver. It will let you play your audio files (but the midi ones : the PCTV2 has no integrated synthesizer) and the audio part of your movie files (AVI, MPEG, etc.) You will also be able to record the sound from the integrated tuner, a microphone or an external audio-visual source (camcorder, VCR, ...)
A 32-bit TWAIN data source. It should work with any hardware (not only ADD-X PCTV) with a Video for Windows capture driver. This driver has been tested with PaintShop Pro V3.12 (32-bits.)

Gallea Printer Drivers

[Windows NT 3.5]

Another big project on which I had to work was to write a set of drivers for Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 so that any applications with printing capabilities could "print" to our customer's specific graphic card featuring powerful graphic effects. The card could then pan, flip, zoom, etc. what had been "printed". During the test phases, I developed the drivers so that they write to a file instead of the card. A viewer that I also developed could then display those files.

Image Generator for Windows

[Windows NT 4.0]

This is an application from a set of user interfaces to create, to manage and to deploy bootable CD images of Windows NT 4.0. Most of these applications were frontends to command-line utilities.

Diamant

[Windows 9x]

This is a sample User Interface for controlling a "black box" for monitoring a critical system. Supports drag-and-drop.

PB Tune

[Windows 3.1]

This application was designed to control a set of boards for receiving data of many kind through a satellite dish and to program all the registers of the chips via an I²C bus.

LEDDemo

[Windows CE]

This is an application that was written for a show to demonstrate the control of a set of 8 LEDs through my own driver piloting some I/O ports under Windows CE. This version runs on Windows 9x.

DXPerf

[Windows NT]

This is a simple application for performing some benchmarks with the DirectDraw interface (part of Microsoft DirectX).

AVI Saver

[Windows NT 3.5]

This is a screen saver that displays .AVI and .MPG files. This was initially written for Windows NT 3.5 codename Daytona.

HP-GL Emulator

This application was designed for rendering (preview) some HP-GL files. It was first designed for Windows 3.1 (16-bits) but was ported to Win32.

I also modified it for stacking a 2-layer PCB scheme of a simple sound card that I developed with some friends before the first Sound Blaster appeared.

Stationery Installer

This simple wizard application was developed for a friend that owns Absolutely Victorian Greetings to allow users to easily install stationery for Outlook, Outlook Express and Netscape Communicator.

MPEG Decoder

[Windows 9x]

This is a console application that displays a few information about any MPEG-1 files.

iLink

[Windows 9x]

This application was the very beginning of a personal project of an Instant Messenger using Multicast instead of a dedicated server.

Triathlon

[Windows 9x]

This application was written for gathering all the information regarding triathlon trainings and contests. This application is not functional and was never complete. An older functional version is included in the zip with limited features and appeal.

SLink

[Windows 3.1]

This application was designed for remotely control and emulate the company's palmtop and to transfer data to and from a PC.

Note: the device was proprietary, it's not compatible with Palm or Pocket PC.)

ShowPCX

[MS-DOS]

This console application was written to display 320*240 PCX files and then experiment some transparency effects (use the cursor once a sample picture is loaded.)

Domotic

[Windows 3.1]

This simple application was especially written for a friend to control some of his electronic appliances with a 48 input/output card.
